Assembly for the Party

For full coverage please refer to my good bye party, which was the 2001 Emma Award Show.

I just try to cut a long story short here: I needed 12 Barbies to create my awards. I screened the supermarkets and toy stores, buying them there would have been more expensive then a good sized keg of beer. You really need to set the right priorities! No luck with Goodwill or Goodwill type of stores either.

But the universe provides: I discovered a whole bunch in a small 2nd hand store just outside of Durango (which is way way south, close to the furthermost south-west corner of Colorado). On my drive back to Fort Collins, which is a beautiful drive across the Rockies (which actually brings you through Fairplay, which is "the" Southpark), I had them sitting on my passenger seat, so I could throw a glance at them once in a while to start assigning them to the different awards.

More (this is actually quite embarrassing): a lot had far better bodies so I did a lot of body switching before turning them into awards. Ok, I admit it, I even kept 3 for myself. I couldn't resist. That's how much Barbies I found in that store. Still, two awards came from different sources. I got the mermaid for the Award for Best Host from the before mentioned mexican girl. The Award for Best Dancer was a donation from my own collection.
